Balmor Compendium operates under a documented set of editorial principles. This page describes the processes, standards, and approach that govern every article published by the Compendium.
Balmor Compendium is an independent editorial publication covering daily habits, sustainable routines, and coaching perspectives on gradual weight management. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.
Balmor Compendium operates under the following editorial principles: articles on weight management habits are reviewed by at least one second editor before publication, sources are cited where appropriate, corrections are noted publicly, and writers disclose any commercial relationships that could influence their selection of subject matter.
The principles described on this page are not aspirational. They describe the actual process followed for every article currently in the archive. Where that process has not been followed for a particular piece, the piece is not published.
Article subjects are selected from the coaching observation record and from the published behavioural and nutritional research literature. Subjects are assessed for editorial relevance to the Compendium's documented focus on daily habits and gradual weight awareness. Commercial considerations play no role in subject selection. Where a writer has a commercial relationship with a subject area, that relationship must be disclosed before the article proceeds.
Content published by Balmor Compendium is selected based on published behavioural and nutritional research, and reviewed for editorial accuracy by a second editor before publication. Where peer-reviewed literature is cited, the citation is verified against the original source. Where the evidence base for a claim is observational or practice-based, the article states this explicitly. The Compendium does not present coaching observations as equivalent to peer-reviewed research findings.
Before any article is published, it is reviewed by a second editor who is not the author. This review covers four areas: factual accuracy against cited sources, editorial register (the Compendium does not publish prescriptive, promotional, or scam-vocabulary), stop-word compliance, and proportionality of claims to the evidence cited. The second editor may return the article for revision before clearance is granted.
Articles are published with a date of first publication visible in the article header. If an article is subsequently updated, the update date is noted separately from the original publication date. The Compendium does not backdate articles or alter publication timestamps without an explicit correction notice.
When an error is identified in a published article — whether by the editorial team or a reader — a correction is noted at the foot of the article with the date of correction and a description of what was changed. Corrections are never made silently. Readers who identify potential errors are invited to write to the editorial team via the contact page.
Published articles remain in the Balmor Compendium archive unless a correction process determines that the article should be withdrawn. In the event of withdrawal, a notice is placed at the article's original URL explaining that the article has been removed and the reason for its withdrawal.
— The editorial process, Balmor Compendium, Gray's Inn Road, 2026
The Balmor Compendium editorial register explicitly excludes a vocabulary class associated with the promotional and scam-adjacent end of the wellness publishing spectrum. This is not a stylistic preference: it is a substantive editorial commitment to accurate representation of what the evidence base does and does not support.
This vocabulary policy is applied at the second-editor review stage. An article that passes all other review criteria but uses excluded vocabulary is returned for revision before publication.
Articles published on Balmor Compendium are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on daily habits, movement routines, and coaching perspectives on gradual weight management. The content is not intended as professional advice. Readers with specific health concerns are encouraged to speak with a qualified professional.
We recommend speaking with a qualified health or wellness professional before making significant changes to your daily habits or routines, particularly if you have any underlying health considerations.
